You Deserve Information Without Judgment.
Whether you are questioning what is happening, trying to leave, have already left, returned, or are rebuilding your life afterward, Compass Forward offers education, resources, and practical support without telling you what your life is supposed to look like.
You do not have to prove that what happened was “bad enough.”
Domestic violence does not always look like what people expect. Abuse can involve physical violence, coercive control, intimidation, financial abuse, isolation, monitoring, threats, sexual coercion, manipulation, or repeated interference with your ability to make decisions about your own life.
You may know exactly what is happening. You may still be unsure. Either way, information can help you better understand your experiences and decide what you want to do next.
There is no single survivor experience.
Different stages bring different questions, emotions, and practical needs. Compass Forward is designed to meet people in more than one place along that journey.
“Is This Abuse?”
Learn about patterns of domestic violence, coercive control, manipulation, isolation, financial control, and other behaviors that may be difficult to recognize while you are living through them.
Considering Leaving
Explore information about barriers to leaving, practical preparation, resources, and why safety decisions are often far more complicated than outsiders realize.
Leaving & Returning
Leaving is often a process rather than a single event. Returning does not erase what you experienced or mean that support is no longer available to you.
Life After Abuse
Recovery can include rebuilding finances, identity, confidence, relationships, routines, boundaries, trust, and a sense of direction after survival mode.
Supporting Your Children
Domestic violence can affect the entire family. Survivors may need support navigating parenting, co-parenting, stability, safety, communication, and difficult transitions.
Finding the Next Step
Sometimes the immediate need is not a major decision. It may be finding a resource, organizing your thoughts, understanding your options, or figuring out what needs attention first.
Your life still belongs to you.
Survivors often experience years of having choices limited, questioned, controlled, or taken away. Support should not repeat that pattern by replacing one person's control with someone else's.
Compass Forward is built around education, clarity, options, and practical direction while respecting each person's right to make decisions about their own life.
That means support can include:
- Helping you identify what feels most urgent.
- Explaining options without demanding a particular choice.
- Connecting you with appropriate resources.
- Helping you recognize patterns and barriers.
- Supporting realistic next steps.
- Respecting your autonomy and your pace.
Leaving does not automatically make everything easy.
Many survivors discover that the period after abuse brings its own set of challenges. There may be grief, loneliness, financial pressure, co-parenting issues, identity changes, rebuilding trust, dating again, family tension, or simply learning how to make decisions without anticipating someone else's reaction.
Recovery is not a straight line. Compass Forward recognizes that surviving the relationship and rebuilding your life are two different parts of the journey.
Sometimes the first step is simply having better information.
Compass Forward offers books, workbooks, domestic violence resource guides, educational courses, survivor tools, and additional resources designed to help people understand what they are experiencing and identify practical next steps.
